Beth’s gifts are varied and her interests are many.  She loves athletics and was the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Geneva College and at Moody.  She also volunteered as a coach and co-leader with "News Release Basketball," a ministry that recruits college basketball players to host clinics and share Christ's love.  Beth served First Presbyterian Church in Downers Grove, IL, as Youth Director and volunteered with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

As a musician, Beth has served First Presbyterian Church, Beaver, PA, as Director of Children's Ministry and Assistant Music Director.  She currently chairs the Women's Resource Network at Gordon-Conwell.

Most importantly, Beth has a deep faith in Jesus Christ and a strong desire to serve Christ as a Minister of the Word and Sacrament in the PC(USA). In speaking of her faith journey, Beth writes, "At this stage in my spiritual journey, I sense God calling me closer to him in love.  Sometimes I play the part of the prodigal son in Jesus' parable, running from the protection and identity of home, controlling my own life. Other times I find myself working hard, as the eldest son..., pursuing perfectionism, and jealous of grace.  And yet my Heavenly Father comes running to meet me, wrapping his arms around me.”

Beth continues, "I am thankful for the sovereign plan of the Trinity, for without the ordination by God the Father, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and the life-changing power of the Holy spirit, I would not have chosen to follow Christ or depend on him for my salvation...I desire to live fully into the faith he has given me and into the new person that the Holy Spirit is making me."

For over thirty years the Lydia Scholarship has been awarded to women who have experienced God's call to become ordained pastors in the PC(USA) and who have a vision of spiritual renewal within our denomination.
